EN ROUTE is a public art project by Aileen Lambert which was commissioned by Mayo County Council. The project involved the exploration of old routes in the landscape in the Bekan, Ballindine and Tulrahan areas. Residents in these areas introduced Aileen to old routes and the stories associated with them. This information was recorded in photographic and audio formats. In addition, tours of sites connected to old routes took place in September 2010, documentation of which features in the publication.

The material was produced in a double CD format, along with an accompanying publication, and launched by Councillor Michael Burke, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, on January 22nd, 2011, at an event in the Dalton Inn, Claremorris. Jenny Haughton, writer and consultant in the contemporary arts, was guest speaker.

Sound files from the audio CDs and the publication in PDF format are available to download from this website. Alternatively, the publication and CDs are available by contacting Gaynor Seville, Public Art Co-ordinator with Mayo County Council, on 094 – 9047561, or email gseville@mayococo.ie

The scheme is funded via the Percent for Art Scheme
